I am looking for a number of schools around the world to collaborate on a Literature/Research/Technology project. The project will be based upon an old essay from The New Yorker titled"The Man Who Walks on Air" - it is a profile of the famous tightrope walker Phillipe Petit. The essay reveals Petit's conviction that what he does is Art. This is a great discussion point on what is art? Our school will set up a website forum and i also intend to track down the New Yorker journalist and ask him to contribute to the forum. The research project includes work on the History of Art and The History of Ropewalking. We will also make a movie of our attempts at rope walking. The essay is an abridged version but it is wonderfully written and provides many themes for comprehension questions and tasks. We are a 1:1 Tablet school and I believe we can promote a lot of discussion on our Art cultures/history if we have a wide number of nationalities involved. I will prepare a project booklet and provide access to our website intranet/forum to any prospective teachers...some of our other projects are displyed here. i propose to undertake this project in September...in your northern hemisphere's new academic year.

My inspirations come from a number of things. Quiet workers always impress me. They work from the heart and mind and aren't looking for a pat on the back. I am inspired by those who chose not to take the...
